Does Your PR Strategy Need a Refresh?

By Jillian Mikolaizyk / March 24, 2026 / , ,

When I made my goals for 2026, I knew that I wanted to make marketing Logos a priority.

For those of you who don’t know, Logos Communications has gone through quite a bit of change over the past few years. I purchased the business from our founder, Sue Voyles, in January of 2023. Over the past 3 years, my focus has been on making that transition as smooth as possible while continuing to give our existing clients the quality marketing service they’ve come to expect.

But while I was doing that — and learning in real time what it meant to be a business owner — my own marketing was being neglected.

So I sat down and made a list. One of my main goals? Revive Logos’s blog by the end of Q1.

Well, we’re just about to the end of March now, and it’s my hope that I kept my promise (we’ll see how long editing takes — I can be very picky with my work)! And I hope that whatever your goals for the first quarter were, you’re crushing them.

Have you given any thought as to whether or not your PR strategy needs a refresh? Here are some signs:

  1. You aren’t reaching the right audience. Your PR efforts should be focused where your ideal client is. If you’re finding that your message isn’t getting to the right place, you might be on the wrong platform, or your messaging might not be in the right tone, or you just might not be sending it at the right time.
  2. There’s no consistency. In today’s climate, consistency is key. Most people won’t engage with you the first time they see your message — it takes sustained, strategic effort to keep your brand top of mind.
  3. You don’t stand out. If your branding is too similar to your competitors, you run the risk of potential clients forgetting you. On the other hand, straying too far from industry expectations runs the risk of people not clearly understanding what it is you do. There’s a middle ground that needs to be found.
  4. You’ve gone through a big change. The PR strategy that worked for you five years ago likely won’t work now. Partially because the industry itself has changed a lot in that time, but also because your business has likely changed as well. Give your audience a chance to get to know the current you.
  5. You’re overwhelmed. This is a sign that your current strategy isn’t working, and it might be time to delegate or hire a PR firm like Logos to take something off of your plate.
